Master of it All…Alan Forbes

By now, most of you know that I am really into silkscreened gig posters, especially those that hearken the Fillmore-era poster designs. Until now, I have neglected to showcase one of the most talented of today’s rock poster artists – Alan Forbes. This guy has done work for too many noted bands to name, and his work is both nostalgic and distinct in its style. His lettering and illustration interweave seamlessly, and his highly-contrasted imagery is stark yet fluid. Many of his posters make me feel as if I’m in the throes of a dark acid trip, flying through the vacuum of glittering space into the netherworlds, where shaman knowledge fills me with the wisdom of the universe. Animal totems swirl around me in psychedelic colors, speaking to me in their telepathic tongues. Spirits guide me to higher planes of existence. I am not a huge fan of LSD, but I am a huge fan of Alan Forbes, and if I was guaranteed to enter his world with each tab, I would be high for the rest of my life. As it is, I will settle for decorating my walls with his epic works, available on the SecretSerpents webstore. After the jump, take a look into by trip and check out a gallery of Alan Forbes prints…
