Look Back & Laugh…
60 Minutes of MINOR THREAT
Now Showing

When I was young, I did what I had to do so that my mother would let her 13-year-old son go hardcore shows without knowing it. I can’t tell you how many times I lied & said I was going to the movies when in actuality we were headed downtown to the Olympic or to Hollywood to the Cathy de Grande. All of the untruths I told my mom made it where I was on punishment when the almighty MINOR THREAT came to town. I remember this one time, a week before one of their gigs, I decided I wanted check out some Boston bands at the Cathy de Grande. The bands performing that night were the F.U’s & Gang Green. Even now, I’m still beating myself up because my mom found out and laid the hammer down, so the following week I couldn’t go see Suicidal Tendencies, Bad Brains, Youth Brigade & Minor Threat! Anyway, one of my favorites bands was those D.C. straight warriors – how could you not like them, I mean, they never made a bad song! On the real, one of the reasons that CVLT Nation even exists is because of the D.I.Y. energy that those DISCHORD weirdos injected into me at an early age. So when it came to seeing MINOR THREAT live, I had to live it through the stories that my homies would share with me after going to their shows. It was sort of cool, they would tell who stage dived & how crazy the pit was, but it was never enough! Well, at least there is video footage, which is another way for me to get my fix. From what I have seen, MINOR THREAT gave their all every fucking time they hit the stage. It almost seemed like the band would become one with the crowd. Generation after generation will know the greatness of this ground-breaking D.C. band. So today, CVLT Nation has put together a gnarly video essay of some our favorite MINOR THREAT performances. After the jump, Look Back & Laugh at some hardcore history!
