Last Days Here chronicles the rising phoenix that is Pentagram, and more specifically, lead singer Bobby Liebling. Directed by Don Argott and Demian Fenton, this documentary shows Liebling at his lowest point, when, after over 40 years of hard drugs, he was ready to die in his elderly parents’ basement. Argott and Fenton intervened through this documentary, and helped Liebling get sober and reunite with his seminal band. This documentary is both inspiring and hard to watch, but knowing that 4 years later Pentagram is back headlining events like Southern Lord’s Power of the Riff, and he’s sober with a beautiful wife and son, makes the super cracked out version of him a little easier to tolerate. Watching interviews with him now, it’s pretty inspiring to think that he has turned his life around, and it makes me thankful that Pentagram was able to make a comeback in my lifetime, instead of fading into history. Now IFC Sundance Selects will do a limited theatrical release at the IFC Center in New York for a one-week run starting today, and at the Cinefamily in Los Angeles for a one-week run starting the 23rd. You can watch the trailer below, and after the jump, check out an excerpt where Bobby offers to give up his epic record collection to the directors if he smokes one more rock…
