A major exhibition is going down right now at the Brooklyn Museum, and it’s all about Keith Haring’s work from 1978-1982. It’s hard for me to put into words how much this dude’s work has impacted my life. When I first saw his work as a young man, it made me feel good to nurture the weirdo I later became.I always respected the way that Keith worked political statements into his work, but you never felt that he was pushing his ideals down your throat. The Lower Eastside wouldn’t have been the same if Keith didn’t spread his vibe around. Since he had roots in graffiti, his work always had an energy that connected him to the everyday human. The Keith Haring exhibition will be in effect until July 8, 2012. This collection covers a wide spectrum of mediums utilized by Haring, including works on paper, video and other objects, like sketchbooks, journals, posters and subway drawings, so make sure to represent if you are in the city. After the jump, check out this sick gallery of what you will be able to see at the exhibition, and pieces that we just really dig!
