Last fall, Orange County, Florida’s school board passed a measure that allowed for religious materials to be disseminated in their schools. While they said “religious materials,” of course what they really meant was “free Bibles.” Always the champions for free speech, the Satanic Temple responded by creating The Satanic Children’s Big Book of Activities, which features all the usual games – spot the difference, word search, mazes and connect-the-dots – but with a Satanic theme. You can download it here or pick it up on their web store, but they also announced that they would be participating in next week’s Religious Freedom Day by making sure that their activity books sat next to the Bibles and atheist pamphlets. However, in an act of ultimate irony, the Orange County school board has put Religious Freedom Day on hold to decide if they mean actual religious freedom, or censored religious freedom. Apparently, they are worried that the Satanic Temple’s pamphlets will cause an uproar because of its blasphemous and offensive nature. With activities like “connect the dots to make an inverted pentagram” or a word search that includes words like “friends,” “love,” “acceptance” and “happiness,” I can see how they would be freaked out. The Satanic Children’s Big Book of Activities seems to have an overarching theme of open-mindedness and nonviolent behaviour, which are obviously not ideas the Orange County school board wants associated with Satanism in children’s minds. I mean, what’s next – acceptance that other religions are equal to Christianity? That beliefs vary from culture to culture and it’s important to be open-minded, non-judgemental and tolerant of other people’s way of life? Hell no! What’s funny is that the attorney for the Christian group who leave bibles at the schools, Roger Gannam, is pissed off with the Satanists for “ruining it for everyone” with their “controversial materials.” Isn’t it, in fact, the anally retentive and closed-minded school board that’s ruining it for everyone with their puritanical attitude? Nope, it’s Satan, implementing his master plan through a coloring book. Check out the story via WFTV, as well as pages from The Satanic Children’s Big Book of Activities…now we just need to work on the fact that not all Satanists are white, and we’re good to go!

I received my very own copy of this a few weeks ago and its hilarious. I really appreciate what The Satanic Temple is doing. Just the perfect why to fight these encroachments of religion.

They should be more worried about the Scientologists. I mean what kid can’t resist spaceships and aliens?
