What’s up with all the fun-time bullshit that has inundated “Garage Music”? It’s like every punk has forgotten about Johnny Thunders, Richard Hell, Television, Iggy Pop, MC5 and all the dirty, greasy, freaks singing about how hopeless the world is.
Fuck that fun-time hipster bullshit: Hank Wood and the Hammerheads are the real-fucking-deal, pissed off punks with a massive chip on their shoulder singing simple, catchy songs about living on the streets.
I was able to catch these guys at Varning Fest 2013 where, despite rumours of their breakup, they played one of the best sets of the whole weekend. From the first note shit got crazy; I got kicked in the head twice while some coked out freak tried to smash my camera. It was a hell of a show.
