Over 200 people are believed to have died while trying to climb Mt. Everest. The causes of death are different for everyone. Some climbers fall to their death, while others die of asphyxiation caused by low oxygen levels, avalanches and falling rocks…It should be noted that many of these people have died doing what they are passionate about and not many people on this planet will have that luxury. These photos show death frozen in time and preserved by Mother Nature.

Everest hasn’t claimed any lives. People just keep letting themselves die like idiots on top of a mountain

i do like the idea of leaving the dead where they are as “land” marks for future hikes. great insight is to be found on youtube, great docs showing the many dead left.

I once had a dream that I was climbing mount everest with a couple friends and we had trekked passed a couple people, notably one lady wearing a purple and pink winter jacket(presumably from the 80’s) who were frozen in place complete with tears frozen from streaming down their face. We then had to hold off an outpost from attackers and then helicopter away. But the frozen bodies image stuck with me.

Good. If everyone who went to do incredibly difficult things succeeded, then they wouldn’t be considered difficult.
If anyone could climb it, it’d be called “Mt. Business Major.”

You all should check out the comic High Crimes. It’s about guys that go up to Mt. Everest and recover bodies and sell them back to their family for proper burials.
