If one building in Berkeley could talk, I would want it to be the Gilman – it has been a mecca for heavy music for years. If the Gilman could speak, it would tell us about outsiders coming together to give their music a home when no one else would. The walls would tell us stories about pounding bass and drumming that shook the city to its core. More than anything, what I remember about the Berkeley punk scene in the mid 80’s was the sense of community, it was almost tribal! Not only has this place supported local bands, but also international artists from around the globe. In 1997, CORRUPTED came to Berkeley and straight ripped in a hole in what we consider doom with an earth-shaking set at the Gilman. Kill That Cat was on hand to capture this gnarly set by CORRUPTED, so roll a fat spliff and enjoy this moment of heavy after the jump!
