So this is interesting – in the early 80’s, the hardcore punk scene exploded in DC. It was heavily influenced by the SoCal scene of the same era. In 1982, me and all of my young homies were totally a part of the Los Angeles punk scene, but when Discord released the ground-breaking compilation Flex Your Head, we all were in fucking awe of this album and all of the bands on it! That’s the thing about our lives back then, we didn’t have the internet, but we found ways of connecting and staying that way. I will not front – the Stern brothers and BYO did their thing by bringing out many of the East Coast bands, Minor Threat included. Anyway, today CVLY Nation would like to celebrate the D.C. scene of the early 80’s with an in-depth video essay featuring S.O.A, VOID, FAITH, GOVERNMENT ISSUE, MINOR THREAT and many more. Game recognize Game – the D.C. kids had a close-knit scene that gave birth to some killer bands and created sonic history! After the jump, step back three decades and see how the 80’s kids wrecked shit!
