SADGIQACEA, “False Prism”

From the moment the needle touches the surface, SADGIQACEA’s gloom-inducing guitar begins to cloud your thoughts and infect your eardrums with unsettling darkness. Creeping progressions incite total blackness, in genre and in mood, to leave a despairing impression aching in your bones. Ominous roars and chilling shrills fill the gaps of looming tones and thunderous rhythm.
Where bands have previously attempted to bridge a gap between sludge, doom, blackened-anything, crust and the avant garde, SADGIQACEA follows the depth of select few that are able to channel it all. Combining the eerie and the extremely heavy into one pounding full-length, this two piece from Philadelphia could not have made a more illuminating and prophetic debut with Candlelight Records.
This album deserves more words than I can muster but undoubtedly gets a completely deafening rating. With four tracks that feel more like nine, they spawn intrigue, indulge a multitude of tastes that hooks the listener into a constant state of desire and interest, and beyond the climax of the album is able to bring a final deliverance from boundaries that typically inhibit the colleagues within the outstanding metal genre to venture beyond their honed, and often repetitive, sub-genres.

As a postscript, I would like to express that I have been eye-witness to their live performance in the past and can say without slightest hesitation that their presence is an experience that all should partake. They will be embarking on a full US (DIY) tour with their local friends Hivelords which will make for an incredibly deafening trip for audiences.
