OK, so tattoos and piercings have become so mainstream at this point, staying tattoo-free is the new “alternative.” But what about when body modification becomes an obsession, and outdoing one’s fellow weirdos takes you to ever higher and weirder body modification practices? Arguably, many body modification practices that are seen as “weird” in the west have been around for millennia in other parts of the world, but what makes these people stand out is the fact that they transform themselves into alien creatures with body modification. Although I wouldn’t attempt many of these modifications, I am in no way judging those who do – I understand completely the drive to carve one’s own identity in a way that is far from what society dictates as “normal.” Many of these practices can be done in a way that’s beautiful, and like any other modification there are examples of where it just looks fucked up. But there are people who have made modification their identity – like Vampire Woman, La Negra, Lizard Man, Cat Man, Xronix, the Most Pierced Lady in the World and many others – and then there are just average Joes and Janes that want to look different. More and more body mod shops are finding new ways to innovate the human body; for example, grafting an extra nipple on your body, anywhere you want, like they’ve pioneered in South Africa. Seeing as I’m about to have another baby, this could come in handy for me. Or you can have your eyeballs or tongue tattooed, implants literally anywhere you want them, your skin carved out in nice patterns or split or sewn together. There is one body mod that irks the feminist in me – the corset piercings…corsets were once forced on women, altering their organs and bone structure in order to make them more “feminine” and “beautiful” to men, with the added bonus of making them unable to move around comfortably without risking fainting. Why on earth would you want to mimic this oppression permanently on your body? It’s not like you need to in order to get laid. Come on.

Kinda sick of this ,,i dont judge people but…”.
First, people can fucking do to their body what they want, thats, i guess, the main reason why they do it. So its not that cool thing to put your politics an them. In order to get laid? Come on? Sorry but Fuck Off, or do u really think a corset piercing says fuck me?
Second, a corset piercing isnt a permanent thing. Most of the Piercing will just migrate or wont heal in most of the places.
So far from an angry person who get judged every stupid fucking day from people who think whats ok to do, or not to do to MY body.

“corsets were once forced on women, altering their organs and bone structure in order to make them more “feminine” and “beautiful” to men” many women still use corsets and they were just in fashion back then, tight-lacing is the stuff that really changes your body, normal corset wearing not so much

You are against the corset piercings because of the history of the corset?
… really?
So by that logic, shouldn’t you be against tattooing because Jewish people were tattooed in the Holocaust?
Or the cigarette burns because of people being abused in that way?
Or the scarification because of people who have been scarred from actual injury?
Apparently the feminist in you likes to bitch for the sake of bitching.

I think “to bitch for the sake of bitching” is a great definition of feminism for the Misogynist’s Dictionary – thanks! And obviously (you can tell from my blog) I am super worried about offending people with my opinions, feminist or otherwise. Great reductionist argument and constructive criticism.

Awww baby doesn’t like being called out on her transparent faux rebellions!
Its not about offending people its about having continuity in your opinions.
Quite the contrary, “Offensiveness” suggests an effective opinion and there is nothing effective about an obvious hypocrite who only cares about the causes that interests her thus giving her tunnel vision, which fuels her contradicting opinions.
My post was not at all a knock against feminism, it was the calling of one person who just so happens to be a feminist.

Woah…you seem know a lot about my opinions! Have we met? Please point out where I am not being continuous. I don’t often point out my feminist “bias” in my posts, so not sure where you are getting what is transparent or faux about my rebellion. Maybe you need to loosen your laces.

No, your logic did not hold up. The corset piercing has nothing to do with corsets, these are unrelated things, and this person called you out on that. Deal with it.
