Belgian Artist ROA is by far one my favorite street artists of all time. His lines have so many different languages in them. The fact that ROA does most of his work in black and white has an old punk flyer vibe about it. What really impresses me about his pieces is the way he multiplies space in order to create more drama. The animals and skeletons that he paints become a part of the environment that he puts them in, to the point that you can’t imagine them not being there. ROA’s work celebrates death and sheds light on creatures that are treated with scorn. As an artist, it seems that ROA likes to travel and take his craft with him wherever he goes. The fact that he paints on the streets so that any and everyone can enjoy it means a lot to me, because his imagination is free from the capitalist politics of the art world! I would like to meet ROA one day and let him know face to face that CVLT Nation respects his creative spirit 100%. Check out a huge ROA photo essay after the jump!
