DJ Screw, aka Robert Earl Davis Jr., came from the bottom, only to make it to the top by slanging tapes! DJ Screw: The Untold Story is a documentary that shows you the life of the DJ who originated the slowed-down style that Houston came to love. What I like about this film is how his homies Lil Keke, Hawk, Big Moe, Lil Flip and more speak about him with so much love and pride. Not only did DJ Screw come up with his own style, he did it on his own terms. On the real, he was really DIY about the way he conducted his business. The way that people listen to their hip hop is a cultural thing, and this film examines that. Shout out to Swamp Witch for their chopped & screwed version of their tape – it’s a blast to get high to. Plus, what up to Vinnie from Low Places, he loves his screwed mixes. Anyway, peep DJ Screw: The Untold Story after the jump get your lean on! SCREW MUSIC = SLOW & HEAVY
