Dis Canadian Nightmare: Disräpe

Dont let the name fool you, “Dis” prefix might be somekind of ‘standard’ for many d-beat bands. But this Canadian metalpunk assault wont compromise with their 7 songs debut EP tape titled “Dis Nightmare Continues” (released by Uncross Your Arms), an ugly mutation of d-beat, UK82, NWOBHM and crust – formulas to which they claimed as their main influences. They sent me the tape along with my shirt purchase, I really dig the cover art done by Halseycaust below!

The EP opened with Discharge’s “The Nightmare Continues” cover, they do justice with this cover version: more heavy, fast and dirty. They dont seem to slow their pace with the other tracks too, thrashing d-beat madness…they just need under than 13 minutes to crush your ears! My fav tracks on this EP are: “Dethriders”, such an anthemic track and perfect for singalong (but too bad there’s no lyrics sheet, alas!), while “Grim and Frostbitten” is going to fool you with the slow intro…then boom, the noise assault continues!

I can hear a bit of Motörhead worshipping melodies (look at the umlaut mark for fuck sake!), and some thrashing riffings here and there. I also dig the heavy yet dirty guitar distortions, a tribute to the Swedish sound? They are in the process of recording a full-length right now, so keep them under your radar…because dis genocide still continues!
