Texas, stand up motherfuckers – there are some new freakaziods ready to damage shit, and they go by the name of A N G S T. I fucking dig this band because they are some mental young outcasts that make far out music with attitude. In December, they are releasing their 5 song demo, Dennis, and the whole 7:44 of it is bonkers. When did I realize this band was sick? The first second of Dennis, when I heard the Redman sample, it made scratch my head and say, oh shit, it’s about to be on. A N G S T plays lo-fi, zany hardcore with a demented dose of power violence and a truck load of originality. Imagine if the Beastie Boys injected themselves with some Eyehategod, and then smoked some WU Tang laced with GG Allin, then pissed out a demo – this is sort of what they sound like, but even sicker. A N G S T are a prime example that you do not have to be the best musician to make some rad music, it takes vision, and that’s what this band brings to your ear drums. Actually, everything about this band is refreshing to me, because they totally have that FUCK THE WORLD ATTITUDE that Iggy Pop and The Stooges first slapped the world with. Yeah, pretty much every moment of this demo is filled with chaos but somehow these dudes dug pot holes and filled them with their off the wall sense of melody! Vocally and lyrically, these dudes remind me of the Angry Samoans on some kind of mind-altering substances. This is not music to fucking over-analyze and try to break down note for note. A N G S T is the kind of band you listen to because El DUCE paved the way for them to wreck what the world considers normal. Also, you can tell that these humans are having mad fun doing what they are doing, and that brings a huge smile to my face. I would love to hear what they would manifest with less money but more time. I’m just saying, I want to hear a full length from these hardcore Bandoliers called A N G S T! I know, I didn’t tell you about one exact song, that’s because the whole demo is the SHIT!
