Day Of The Damned…NO MERCY Review

The year was 1987, & No Mercy put out one of the best crossover records ever, called Widespread Bloodshed Love Runs Red. These Venice homeboys straight killed shit – just imagine if Motorhead was on some loco gangster shit. Maybe I should say they sounded like the bastard brothers of Suicidal Tendencies; that would not be too far off, being that half of the band were in Suicidal. I know for a fact that Mike Clark was an O.G. hardcore kid, but his first love was metal – he was one of the first I knew who got into Slayer. You can hear his passion for metal in the way he attacked his guitar solos. Mike Muir rode these metal tracks like a man on a fucking mission. One thing I’ve always liked about this record was the backing vocals, they added the right amount of bite to each song. Once you hear “Masters of No Mercy,” if you don’t start headbanging, you must be dead. This band not only attacked you with the riffs, but all the songs had gnarly grooves! If you want to hear some epic thrash, Widespread Bloodshed Love Runs Red will do you just right.
