On the fourteenth night of October, 2015, Glendale was alive with the sound of thunder, both from the sky and the
Complex bar. Missed the first band,
Dead To A Dying World, unfortunately, as I had heard of them and was curious. However, L.A. rain and a few other factors had something to say about arriving on time.
Local doombros
Ancient Altar had the second slot. I was pumped; I like this band. I’ve listened to their first cassette extensively and like it a lot. The crushening filled the already packed room appropriately. The beer flowed and the crowd was satisfied with their aural floggings.
Abstracter from Oakland was next, serving everyone with a dirty dish of NorCal dirges. The filth was felt throughout, and the always pleasing Funktion-One system that has been spoiling us for the past couple of years at Complex was delivering nut punches galore, as per usual.
By the time
Graves At Seawere on, it was boozefest drunkytime. Crowd was buzzing and bumbling, and the band set up and started cranking with an earnest fervor. I was shooting on a broken camera and the crowd was surging in drunken sludge. The songs rolled together on swells of punchy, swinging doom, one after another, until it was over.
