Number One MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF
Wow is jumping over 6 unholy fucks and awesome is doing back flips over pure radness…MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF is one of the sickest new bands in my universe. The first millisecond that I heard them, they had me hanging on to the killer fury that they conjure up like a puppet on a string. So this is the deal, MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF, from Raleigh, NC, just released their album This is a Test via The Path Less Traveled Records. If you can’t tell, this record has me mad hyped! When the riff on “Circle the Drain” wraps around your inner head banging demons, I know for sure you will be hooked. Actually, MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF is so good that when I hear them, everyday feels like Saturday. Now I’m going to get my mad scientist on, I’m going to mix the spirit of Rudimentary Peni with the confrontational energy of S.O.A, plus the metallic edge of VOID, and what I would create would still be no match for MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF. The vocalist in this band is called Earthworm Poverty, and his magnetic screams & grunts are filled with harmonic agony. Then there is the music – you could say it’s crust, metal or punk, but none of these labels would do it justice, my advice to you would be to hear it for yourself. I will say that every tune on this record is gnarly to the core. MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF know how to use speed as a weapon, and they construct all of their tunes with a rancid layer of cosmic melody that will have your face contorting in awe. You know when you hear people that live what they create every second of their existence, so their creations have that special quality that you can’t put your finger on? This band has that. Now I have one more thing I have to do before I leave this planet, I must see MAN WILL DESTROY HIMSELF live. I know these humans must rip the universe a new one!

Next Killer Five after the jump!
Number Two WILD/TRIBE
Everything is crustier in Texas, and WILD/TRIBE are major proof of that. With their album Endless Nights, they created rad metallic hardcore that attacks your senses in 3D. All the tunes on this album get me extra amped – from the maniac drumming to the atomic riffs! WILD/TRIBE’s vocals are in total slaughter mode, from the first song until the last. The vocals are sung so that you can understand the words, which is superdelic because these humans are breaking shit down that the world needs to hear. This album is a soundtrack for the youth of today, articulating how they feel about these numbskulls in power! I could say loads about how gnarly Endless Nights is, but better yet, CVLT Nation is streaming this WILD/TRIBE album in full below…so you can get a dose of the real shit yourself!

Number Three MAUSER
As long I have breath to breathe, I will be a Dis-Noize fanatic, because for me this sound will always represent an internal and physical revolution for me and for society. One dis-band that is bringing the heat is Floridia’s MAUSER – their five song EP End Of The Line is totally ballistic from beginning to fucking end! This band conjures up the sonic chaos & mayhem that will give you electric shocks with each listen. MAUSER’s anger is in 3-D – their kinetic rage will jump out of your speakers and wake you the fuck up! The riffs you will encounter on End Of The Line will drill through your skull, as the drums crush your bones just for fun! Lyrically, MAUSER are on point, writing and singing about the injustices that corporations and corrupt governments have us living through. This creates the kind audio uprising that the powers that be want to shut down, but guess what, the voice of dissent is only getting louder, and MAUSER will be at the front of the line screaming! These humans kill shit with their songwriting, because no matter how much nitro your hear in their songs, they punch you in the eye with rotting melody that will keep your head banging. When I heard their tune “Lunatics” I knew it was fucking on – the breakdown came in followed by a storm of fury. Then things got even radder, when “Social Lobotomy” kicked in, all fucking unholy hell broke loose in my speakers, and thoughts of social justice started racing around my brain. MAUSER will also get you hyped with the tons of conviction that each of their songs drops on your chest. You know what Dis-Noize has become for me? A source of power, and this band just shows Dis-Punks don’t die, they fucking multiply. If you are reading this in Japan, they will be there in February 2012, performing with D-Clone.

Number Four DETHRONE
I can’t front & I won’t front – I’m a junkie for Dis-Super Dis-Nuclear Dis-Beat. One band from Austin that gives me my fix is Dethrone. This band’s new album, Abandon Everything, is packed with 6 jams of crustified slaughter. Every song on this album is fucking dis-perfect. Dethrone’s drumming is the chaotic back bone for the dark yet uplifting compositions that this band composes. The way that Jake Alexander pounds those dead skins, he awakes all of the fallen revolutionaries – so capitalist pigs better watch out, the butchers are coming! The guitar riffs on Abandon Everything are blackened to the core, but at the same time they have this razor sharp vibe about them that could cut through bone. On the vocal tip, Dethrone bring it from two angles – their singer is capable of shouting out this I don’t give a fuck snarl, but then take it all the way down to a guttural grunt filled with agony. This band is raw to the core, but they still keep this awesome whiskey-soaked crust aura to their tunes. Dethrone lyrically are not afraid to say what’s on their mind – from my point of view, that’s cool with me because I dig where they are coming from. This a band that should be known around the universe for conjuring up some of the sickest d-beat in 2011. You can hear Abandon Everything here, plus you can purchase this gnarly album.

Number FIVE ORDER OF THE VULTURE
I love to see a label grow with each release, and build a solid foundation based on gnarly music, and the Seattle label Aborted Society Records is that kind of label. Started in 2000, they have been putting out rad releases ever since. Being that they call a city home that just has positive vibes, it’s no surprise that they are doing the right thing. One of their most recent releases is an EP by Portland’s death crust punks Order of the Vulture, entitled Martyr for Nothing. A blistering onslaught of black metallic rawness will take over your being as you listen to these three songs. Honestly, everything about the music this band conjures up is just straight on fucking point! Their demonic freedom fighter riffs are pointed at the skulls of the downpressers, whose days of power are numbered. Order of the Vulture have given their lives over to the real spirit of change, and this fact can be heard and felt in every second of Martyr for Nothing. What’s epic about their sound is that they have forged black metal and crust into their own perfect sword of sonic destruction. Yeah, you will hear the get up & go of d-beat, but you will also be creeped out by the demented blackened vocals that are spit on every track. Order of the Vulture does not sacrifice satanic melody for speed, a fact that will have your blood turning into pus as you head bang your way to hell and beyond. I’m amazed at how much fucking energy there is in their songs, and I dig the way that they incorporate eerie sound effects, making for rad audio drama. On the song “Martyr for Nothing,” they hit these pockets of rancid groove that will have your face contorting, going, damn, these motherfuckers are killing shit. The vocals on this song will draw you into a bleak mainframe, but the drumming will have your dark thoughts bouncing off the walls, and the breakdowns are spectacular! Martyr for Nothing leaves me demanding more out of Order of the Vulture, like a full length, and soon.

Number Six COGNITIVE DISSONANCE
I wonder what’s making me smile? I know what it is – this face-ripping metallic crust I am blasting into my ears, created by a rad Minneapolis band called Cognitive Dissonance. Their new album Into the Madness, out on Ecophagy Records, is the sonic personification of hell hounds chewing at your throat. This band has something to say to the world, & they get the job done in a caustic fashion that will leave you with energy to rage against this oppressive system. The vocals on this album will penetrate your psyche, and travel all the way through your skeleton, where they will leave you with an unsettling feeling of blackened joy. The dual singing that Cognitive Dissonance has happening is just fucking awesome! This band’s riffs ring the alarms of revolution that can be heard by all the freedom fighters worldwide. It’s weird, the song writing on Into the Madness is so epic, at times I wonder if I might be listening to the Mozart of crust. Hot Damn, every song on this album will have you standing to attention, and the metallic solos on this album scream out “You better listen to us you bastard! GAME OVER!” Check out the title tune “Into Madness” – your head will be banging & your face will be contorting with radness. Lyrically speaking, this band is on point, writing about issues that I’m sure many of you think about, like “Manufactured Genocide” and “Omens of Doom.” Cognitive Dissonance’s tunes have this blackened groove to them that totally gets me wildin out, but whats so killer are the deep valleys of emotional fury that this band paints with their righteous anger. The next step for me is seeing them perform this sick album live & taking some epic flicks!

I will agree that the Mauser 7″ is good. But the rest of the list is fairly bland, generic crust stuff, there were a heap of better dbeat and crust releases in 2011, though most of them came from other countries besides the USA yo!
