Cub of the Woods is a tumblr that CVLT Nation has been following for a little while. For the calibre of her illustration, there is far too little to look at on her site. What is there are stunning examples of metal artwork – almost all of them should be made into prints, if only so that they could end up on our walls at CVLT Nation HQ. COTW captures all that is dark and sexy in metal, and her gore is perfectly textured, dry with the dust of decay, but oozing with terror. While her subject matter falls into the less cerebral of the dark and disturbing art I cover, that by no means lessens its impact on me. I have a soft spot for well-constructed skulls and skeletons, and hers are some of the best I have seen. Her babes are a teenage metal fantasy – a cross between the vixens of 80s hair metal and the witches of the 60s, and they are using their wiles to lure you in before they decimate you and dance on your bloodied corpse. I would like to take this opportunity to tell COTW that she needs to print some of these up and put more of her work on tumblr! After the jump, check out Cub of the Woods…
