Dolls can be a kid’s best friend, but they can also be their worst enemy. Maybe it’s because of their ability to be personified that dolls take on both the good and the evil of human beings. My kids definitely have a couple of dolls that creep me out, whether it’s because of their psychopathic, vacant expressions or the warbley voices that emanate from their static mouths. I have thrown a couple away for this exact reason. There was one 30-year-old talking “baby” that a friend’s neighbour passed on to my daughter that was immediately thrown in the trunk of my car because I didn’t like the way it looked at me, and as I was driving it would periodically giggle in a tinny, dying and demonic sort of way. The last time it did, I chucked it into the nearest dumpster, and I swear for the next couple of weeks I expected it to turn up on our doorstep. In the good old days, they made toys to last, so they would slowly degenerate into terrifying spectres of pure evil. Yeah, I’m not that into creepy dolls. But I do enjoy these pictures below! As long as they’re NIMBY.
