Deep down in the pit of a good doom or sludge song is the devil’s music, aka the blues. It would be fair to call blues the great-grandfather of doom and everything rock and motherfucking roll! Way before Black Metal or any subversive modern music, the southern bluesmen of America were labeled as Satan-lovers. Robert Johnson is one of the most famous; maybe it’s because of all of the tales about him selling his soul to Lucifer to become a better guitar player. The 1992 bio-documentary Search for Robert Johnson takes a look at his life with all of the myth and truth surrounding his existence. What I really dig about this film is how they go to the source for much of the information you encounter while watching. So after the jump check out Search for Robert Johnson and make sure to dance with the fallen angel!
