The year was 1987 & one of the of America’s most influential post-hardcore bands was formed: FUGAZI. In my book, these humans changed the structure of music on so many levels, plus these dudes were punk is fuck. Coming from the Chocolate City – these white boys had that green-eyed soul thing happening because to me their records did have a very soulful quality about them. When I listened to their records, I almost got the feeling that these dudes were some zany fine artists in their past lives. Yo kids, next time you go to an all-ages venue, think about FUGAZI because they would not perform if all ages couldn’t get in to the show. What about them as song writers, I’m just saying, these homies wrote some epic anthems. Do not get it twisted, this is one band that will live on because of all of the bands that they influenced. The word on the street is that their live shows were the thing of legend, I can only live through the stories that my friends have told – fuck I’m mad at myself for not going to any of their gigs. One good thing is FUGAZI did not sell merch, but they did believe in having their show documented via film & audio. So today CVLT Nation has put together a video & still photo essay for your viewing pleasure. After the jump, check out some post hardcore history!
