Check out this 1998 BLACK METAL documentary from Belgium. There are points of view I really like in this film, but at the same time there are some things I just can not get down with. It’s nice to see a pretty honest perspective on the scene in Belgium from back in the day. It’s funny seeing a bunch of teenagers in corpse paint dropped off at a show in a Benz driven by their dad!

The vice interview w/Gaahl is pretty great too when he takes them up to his family hut on this isolated peak in Norway and the whiny bitches at vice complain the whole time.

August 27, 2015 at 3:34 am
same for me ^^ i was 16 back then ..but if it evolved now ,i dont think so… hardcore scene is more present in belgium and it sucks even the ones who tries to do black..end up with braindead hardcore or braindead death metal…..
But anyway, the soul of black metal, of rebellion against religious institutions, against the heavy metal retard scene and all the opportunists who profit of the business they make from it, so the engagement of it ,is lost now … now,and even in this video, its just ” evil “with a bunch of posers who have no idea whats the philosophy of it ….
you put the words black, raven ..death.. in a sentence and you make black metal nowadays…

Oh, this documentary is pure nostalgia. I’ve been to my first BM concert in 2003, but the situation and everything was the same. Young pathetic people with corpsepaint and chainmails, I always laughed at them. I mean I always loved BM, but never understood people who took it too seriously.

I truly enjoyed this documentary. But, according to Metalheads of the modern era, it ain’t the same as it used to be.
The best part is when the kids on Corpsepaint get dropped off by the father. XD
