I have a job to do, and that is to be honest about the music that is moving me at any given moment. SOFT KILL‘s new album entitled Heresy is a 2015 post punk gem. It’s not the darkest record in the world, which is cool with me because I need their shimmering riffs to shine light on the broken heart I am suffering from. I’m in awe of how much melody they pack into each song – I think the word “anthem” best suits their compositions. When I first heard “Violent Mind,” I felt chills up the back of my neck. If SOFT KILL was around in the 80’s, they would have been a mainstay on KROQ radio and I could see the kids dancing their asses off at all of the club nites around Hollywood. Right now, the band is on a USA tour with the Chameleons UK and the pairing makes total sense. Do me favor – listen to “Selfish Love” and allow the vibe of this tune transport you to a happy place in your life, and while you are doing that, get your dance on! This is not a review of SOFT KILL’s Heresy; that will come later, so stay tuned. I just wanted to share with you what I feel is one of the raddest post punk releases of 2015…our homies over at No Sun Recordings will be releasing the vinyl, so keep your ears open. Check out SOFT KILL while they are on tour with the Chameleons – that’s the move!
