Bädr Vogu Exitium Review

(Cover artwork by Eric Radey)

Bädr Vogu is a band that has become a constant storm sweeping through the Bay Area of California since the start of 2010. Featuring members from the bands Strains Of The Apocalypse, Hotblack Desiato, and World Eater, Bädr Vogu continues to usurp the many souls lucky enough to witness their crushingly heavy West Oakland Blues Crust.

With their debut release of Exitium, Bädr Vogu has not only created a timeless album, but have solidified themselves among the best bands in the Bay Area. Exitium contains four songs previously released on their 2011 Demo tape, as well as three new songs, including a cover of “Wither” by 13! My favorite tracks on the album are Extinguished, Soliloquy Of Belligerence, and Nomad.Exitium was recorded with Salvador Raya at Earhammer Studios in the Fall of 2011 and mastered by B.J. Rigney. Exitium was released in July of 2011 followed by a weeklong tour and a live appearance on KFJC 89.7 to support the album. Bädr Vogu has partnered with Spanish label Memento Mori to press an official release of Exitium with distribution in Europe and South America. The expected release is for May/June of 2012. Until then, Bädr Vogu have uploaded Exitium in its entirety to their Bandcamp for anyone to preview or purchase.

If you are anywhere near Santa Cruz, California on April 14, Bädr Vogu will be playing at the Witch Haus with Swamp Witch and Bruxers. “The heaviest of Bay Area Doom/Sludge/Death descend”
