A taste of things to come from Birmingham’s Antinomian. Rising from the ashes of the radically superior horde Subvertio Deus, the tradition for quality is maintained. This supernal preview of the soon to be released EP demonstrates the tendencies of the cult well, casting forth with swathes of conceptualised filth, utter claustrophobia and a glimmer of (black) light that emanates subterranean horror and ancient mysteries.
This is a superb track, that sets the tone extremely well for the longer release. Unrelenting drums undermine all sense of reason, pummelling sensibilities with their terrifying precision. Primordial waters are dredged by qlippothic vocals that channel the essence of a thousand spiritual deaths, while robust guitars underpin the soundscape.
Over the 11 and half minutes of this preview, there’s a masterful balance between variety and consistency. There’s enough in the palette for things to not get repetitive, but order is maintained, to the credit of Antinomian.
The final act gives way to some outstanding guitar work, leading the way for what is sure to be an exceptional release when it finally drops.
Available 01st August 2012, this is not to be missed.
