So you are into death, and all of its forms and trappings…what do you do for fun? There are a ton of ways to occupy your spare time with all things morbid, and today I’ve got three of them for you. If you’ve enjoyed our Post-mortem Photography posts, then you will love the gorgeous pages of The Thanatos Archive‘s new hardcover book Beyond the Dark Veil: Post Mortem & Mourning Photography from The Thanatos Archive. This book is full of stunning and rare post-mortem photography from the Victorian era, replete with newspaper clippings, funeral notices and memorial pieces. I have longed to dig through The Thanatos Archive, and this book lets you into their stores of Victorian post-mortem collectables. This is for those cold nights, curled up with a glass of your favorite alcohol, flipping through pages of beautifully dressed and posed corpses. Pick up a copy here.

The next item I have for you is a fun game you can play with your death-obsessed friends and family! Who hasn’t been fascinated by the twisted and depraved minds of serial killers ever since they read that Jeffery Dahmer issue of People Magazine at the tender age of 11 (People used to be so much better…)? Well, now there’s a board game where you can be the killer, and battle against your friends’ portrayals of Richard Ramirez, Aileen Wuornos, Ed Gein, Albert Fish and Ted Bundy. The Serial Killer Trivia Game from Culture Heroes is a great way to indulge your weird, morbid side and have some laughs too! Get yours here.

Is education more your cup of scotch? Then you can take a trip to the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn, where you can peruse their collection of taxidermy, death masks, medical oddities and other strange dead things. Not only does this museum look amazing, they also offer workshops for aspiring taxidermists and lectures for people looking for St. Vitus Bar small talk. Classes include “Anthropomorphic Mouse (One or Two Headed!) Taxidermy Class,” where you learn the full process of creating a Walter Potter-style jaunty little mouse, and for a small extra fee you can add another head; or you can attend a lecture on “A History of Serial Murder from One Million, B.C. to the Present.” Damn, why does Brooklyn have all the fun?? Check out the Morbid Anatomy Museum’s calendar of events here.
