CVLT Nation Premieres new AMEBIX track…
“Knights of the Black Sun”

History is being made on CVLT Nation. After 24 years, the prodigious crust legends, Amebix are releasing a new album, Sonic Mass, this fall on Amebix Records/Easy Action, and today CVLT Nation is premiering their single – “Knights of the Black Sun”. We could go on and on about this track and our love for it, about the growth of the band and their musical depth of experience, etc. etc., but we think it’s better for you to hear it from Rob Miller himself. Here is what he has to say about “Knights of the Black Sun”:

This song really originated as an afterthought, an idea that popped up pretty much as we had closed the bag on new songs for the album. I had been harbouring an idea for some time, something of an epic Saga that had certain key points in the narrative – there are references littered throughout the lyrics for anyone who cares to follow them. As a song, it is not typical of the rest of the album; it has a certain post punk feel which I really like, rather than straight forward grunt and thrash that many people may have expected, so it will divide opinions, which is always a good thing. It also has a clean vocal start, which is just asking for trouble – but again, we are very happy with this as the integrity is there to carry it off, besides which I remember the same reluctance back in the 1980’s when we were playing ‘Drink and Be Merry’ or ‘The Darkest Hour’. We decided after 24 years of silence to do what we always have done…exactly what we want…No Gods, No Masters…

Amebix are nothing if not true to themselves. This is truly epic, a monster of song. The vocal phrasing is genius as is the whole song structure. If you want to make a comeback, heres the blueprint!

Cheers and love to all who have done such an amazing job and all who’ve stayed true to Amebix. What an honor it was to do the art illustration and animation for these lovely lads. Truly a pinnacle for me. No God No Masters, Andy

I love it, at first I honestly didn’t know what to make of it. But liked the build up/imagery of it. I think it’s a real grower. Hat’s off to them, they could have just recorded a new track using a traditional Amebix style formula. But really fucking went for it instead. The video by Andy Lefton is fantastic
