Are you ready for war, are you ready for dispair, are you ready for change, are you ready for As Time And Tide Erode Stone? The California black metal band Lake of Blood can get you ready for all of these things; after repeated listens you will begin to gain strength & start seeing the world in a different way. This band does not write 3 minute pops songs but instead they compose epic dramatic compositions that have different textural layers in them. For some reason, when I listen to Lake of Blood, they remind me of Scandinavian road trip I took years ago. What made this journey special is that as I looked out across the vast land, I felt as if I could see & feel the ancient wars that once took place there. This band takes me back to those thoughts. Lake of Blood is really good at creating a sense of juxtaposition with their musical craftmanship. In one moment, you will hear the vocalist’s shrill growls of anguish over the top of almost medieval guitar riffs, and meanwhile the drumming is blasting you in the head with percussive rhythms. Yes, this band creates black metal, but they are comfortable enough in their skin to stretch the genre beyond normal existing boundaries, which is very refreshing! Lake of Blood paints pictures of this cold-hearted world, but at the same time they strike chords of empathy with the sonic vexation they conjure. Their album As Time And Tide Erode Stone is out now via Human Jigsaw. For all you lucky humans & aliens of the West Coast & Southern states and Vancouver, Canada, they will be embarking on a summer tour with Vestiges. After the jump, get all of the tour news & some surprises!
