Although we didn’t hear that much new stuff from Hessian (besides tons of awesome shows) lately, the Belgians put out a Split with Pale Creation that manages to suck the last lust for life out of our bodies – in the best kind of way. As ‘Sons of Avarice’ and ‘Blood of Elijah’ (still my favorite) have already been out for a while, there are still 3 new songs that don’t surprise that much. And you know what ? They don’t fucking need to. The Energy the two bands bring in this Split is almost ridiculously overwhelming. The opener ‘Torch’ leads the way into Hessian’s part of the Split with energetic drums. Following are 4 more songs that bring the typical brutality of the belgian soul-wreckers. The second part of the Split is also very well produced, although Cleveland’s Pale Creation didn’t seem that well-fitting into the Split at first. After a few listens, my opinion on that changed. Their songs bring a different style into the record and are definitely very unique. A more metallic sound with fast double-bass-hits and aggressive vocals work perfectly well with the fast, yet rhythmic guitars. This band is nevertheless a band you should keep an eye on.
As for Hessian, there is nothing left to say but one thing : these guys are gonna be huge. The songs they contributed to this Split are more than the average metallic hardcore sound we are used to. The uprising Church-Of-Ra-Members are something you NEED to check out.
This Split-LP is legitally one of the best records to be put out in this genre for a long time. Give it a listen, check out both of the bands if you haven’t yet because THIS. IS. HUGE.
