I have just smoked a huge bong load of floating sonic black magic. It entered my brain in the form of Chelsea Wolfe’s new album entitled Unknown Rooms: A Collection of Acoustic Songs, which is enchanting from beginning to end out now on Sargent House. I have always been a fan of Chelsea’s work, but this stripped-down album showcases her voice better than I have heard her before. Every song on Unknown Rooms leaves my ears transfixed, waiting for the next song to come on. Listening to this album teleports my mind to another space and time. I’m starting to feel like I’m looking out of a window on a long cross-country drive and all I can see is the terrain moving to the melody of the wind. Chelsea has created an album that will empower the listener. The melodic elements of this collection of songs will enchant you for sure. Give credit were credit is do she really knows how to write stellar songs that will creep inside of your bones and stay there for a long time. Unknown Rooms is the kind of record that will unify the tribes of outsiders under the flag of the Wolfe! Whenever you are feeling down, just blast the last song “Sunstorm” and allow the vocal interplay wash your despair away. On a personal note, the first time my 16 month old daughter heard this album she couldn’t help herself, dancing was her only option. If you had to buy one album to become a part of your daily reality, Unknown Rooms should be it. How many times will this record be played in the CVLT Nation HQ? At least once a day. In the meantime, check out the full stream of this album below and peep a special video after the jump!
