A while back I got to see one of the newer members of the tribe of doom open for the legendary Batillus at Union Pool. The band, Belus, consisting of former members of Curandera, Concussion, and Arches, was shocking stripped down, heavy, plodding, and brutal. I say shockingly because, all-possible-scandals-be-revealed, I’m friends with a couple guys in the band, and frankly, the drummer couldn’t play anything slower than a fucking blast beat when I first jammed with him for another band.
Anyways, be on the lookout for this band if you’re a fan of Asunder, Corrupted, and (though I might be losing my mind as this is a little far off but…) Thou.
