A Crown Of Smoke On The Brow Of The Earth…ENSORCELOR Review

I hear fear, I see the black tears & the weeping willows are now screaming. Our inner demons have been awoken by our sunny agony that is burning into dust. Where are these thoughts of dispair coming from, even though our mental skies are clear? These are the thoughts that swim around my brain cavity as I listen to Montreal’s Blackened Doom Wizards Ensorcelor. This band’s demo is something I will listen to for a very long time; the reason being is that it is a classic on so many levels. This band has the stench of a million dead bodies, but on the flip side, musically they have the beauty of a never-ending sunset. Two of their songs are over ten minutes long, which gives them enough time to die in one direction & be reborn in another.
Ensorcelor’s music has these moments where the darkness rises, then comes cascading down all around you. The vocalist for this band is just extra epic – I can almost see the maggots eating away at his throat as he sings. On the song “This Even Doom,” they have a woman who sings with them & her voice is just awesome. This band is very aware how of the importance of space, & they use this almost as another instrument. Ensorcelor plays doom that will feed your emotions but also will let know what’s real. To me, this is way more that just a demo, this is superdelic fucking music to live to.

Awesome band that I discover purely randomly in a night with many bands. You can see all the pics here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/_silencio/tags/church/
