When I was watching the last two years of Black Flag gigs, I didn’t know I was watching the birth of Grunge. When I first heard about this new scene in Seattle around 89/90, I was into Fudge Tunnel, Fluid, Nirvana and The Almighty TAD. The other day, I watched a documentary entitled Busted Circuits and Ringing Ears that was way beyond honest. Just as much it was about TAD, it also shed a good light on the beginnings of SUB POP and the close knit scene itself. It’s pretty much safe to say that the term “Grunge” was made up by the media. From watching this film, you will see that more than anything, it was about a group of friends creating music that got them hyped. TAD was way before his time, and this is really evident in Busted Circuits and Ringing Ears. Now get your aggro giant riff on and watch this film after the jump!

Such a great film and band. It’s a shame that they remained so under the radar during the Seattle music scene’s rise to fame. It’s good to see Tad Doyle keeping busy though. Brothers of the Sonic Cloth is incredible.
