DEVIANT MINDS: OLD WOUNDS – II REVIEW

This brand new two song EP by OLD WOUNDS from New Jersey is something your parents probably wouldn’t enjoy listening to. Actually, probably a lot of people on this planet wouldn’t enjoy this face melting, violent and harsh sonic torment that’s befalling and destroying your idea of a beautiful world – but I do so much the more. The record, simply titled II, clocks in less than four minutes and leaves you basically no time to catch a breath or do something else besides. Before you realise what the fuck’s happening, it’s already over again and you’re totally floored. Full review after the short promo clip!

Old Wounds - IIHeavily distorted guitars shredding the most fucked up riffs make you instantly wish for a drilling machine in your head – just to have something more enjoyable. Sick, disgusting vocals cling to your face like some sort of brain-eating alien. The overall mood on the record is really compulsory aggressive and overly violent. OLD WOUNDS do this without getting too much into the Metal territory. For the biggest part, II takes influences from cutting-edge Hardcore outfits like Black Flag or Void – a high level of negative energy paired with super sick riffs. I really think if Void would be a current band, they’d sound a lot like OLD WOUNDS. Or, as I just realised, OLD WOUNDS sound a lot like the fast songs of the early Eyehategod – like Peace through War (Through Peace and War).

Writing this already took much longer than listening to this EP, so all I can say is: Get this!
