1. Weedeater “Time Served” We played our first show in 2001 with Weedeater at a house party, I didn’t own a microphone and for some reason we played after Weedeater. Dave vomited all over the mic I would have to use and I thought to myself, “hmmmm”. This song is about a mutual friend amongst ASG and Weedeater that was wrongfully accused and stuck in jail, still gives us goose bumps.
2. Torche “Charge of the Brown Recluse” ASG toured a month or so with Torche back in 2005, it was a lesson in everything we wished we could become, and a major “back to the drawing board” moment for us.
3. Quicksand “Fazer” In the early days when we slept in the van at rest stops for some reason this record was on all the time.
4. Melvins “Roadbull” Our introduction to the Melvins in the late 90’s when we were friends but not in the band yet. Once the band existed, we watched surfing videos in the van as we are all beach rats from Wrightsville Beach NC, Roadbull was on one of our favorite flicks.
5. Floor “Scimitar” So jealous.
6. Down “Doob Interlude” This was on the 2nd Down record that we jammed a lot when it first came out, sort of an out take feel that we wished they probed deeper into.
7. Blacktusk “End of Days” Our good buddies that we’ve known and played with for years.
8. Karma to Burn “Twenty” We are a riff oriented band and this is one of the best.
9. The Dwarves “Crucifixion is Now” ASG toured with the Dwarves and Blag has sung on one of our records, maybe our favorite punk band? The tour was a shitshow everynight, fights, cancellations, walk offs, sluts on stage….it was great.
10. Harvey Milk “Decades” The guitar tone and drum sound on this jam should be sought after.
11. Jane’s Addiction ” L.A. Medley” This was a cool live song on the Classic Girl single, they mix the Doors, Germs, and X. They were our teenage favorites, arm hairs still stand up when Jane’s lands on the ipod shuffle.
12. Kylesa “Hollow Severer” ASG has toured and with these Savanimals, and been recorded by their singer/guitar palyer Phillip Cope. Wish they’re fans would go more ape shit when they play live, lot of head nodding, cmon.
13. Queens of the Stone Age “Better Living Through Chemistry” This band misses Nick Oliveri so bad it’s stupid.
