On The Eclipse…HORSEBACK
Review + Stream

Who goes there…12 minutes of sonic bliss in the form of a 7 inch created by Horseback, entitled On The Eclipse, coming out in early April via Brutal Panda. Before I start writing this I need to wipe the awesomeness from my eyes, because this record is just that fucking good! The title track, “On The Eclipse,” has the perfect balance of gloaming and daylight. It’s brilliant the way that Horseback gives his shrill, tormented vocals a lush musical valley to gallop around. Something about this song makes me have happy thoughts of nature’s cycles, and how all sorts of beings coexist in the wilderness. It seems that Horseback is telling a story with this song, and every instrument has a key part to play in order for the listener to understand were he is coming from. “On The Eclipse” is high in addictive audio qualities, so don’t be alarmed if you find yourself pressing repeat time and time again! The second song, “Broken Orb,” takes a different approach to opening up your 3rd eye. When you hear it, you will realize the true power of sound, and when certain sonic layers are put together they are transcendental. Every time I hear this song, I feel like I’m having a out of body experience. I guess the cause of this sensation would be the tiny sounds that expand into huge clouds of dream mist. As a composer, I give Horseback ultra respect for this tune, for the fact that he is able to put so much emotion into sound, you never really realize that there are no vocals in “Broken Orb.” To me, On The Eclipse is way more than just a 7 inch, it’s a statement on how to be yourself and create from the heart, not the mind. You are so lucky, CVLT Nation is streaming both tracks below, and make sure to pre-order the record HERE!
