Somethings change but my fascination with somber bass lines and miserable ethereal vocals will always get me excited! In 2011 Fan Death Records put a killer album out by Puerto Rico Flowers entitled “7” every track on this album are straight dirge classics.I’m extra ultra impressed that a human in in this century could create an album that i would have been blasting in 1984 but at no point does it feel like the band is trying to re-live the past. Puerto Rico Flowers has found a way of creating dark post punk record with a nod to it’s ghost while conjuring up a spirit all of their own.To some beings this could of music might seem cold but thats the thing about PRF their compositions have depth and warmth to to them that warps your nightmares in a state of bliss! As song writers this band really know how to convey a sense of emotion in the songs that they create which is also apart of their noir charm.Wow lyrically they are spot on plus the vocal delivery of Puerto Rico Flowers is fucking superdelic! So check this out when your hear the intro to their song Sisters you will realize from from the first ten seconds that this a fucking anthem that will line you grey clouds with just a touch of sunshine. This band makes me nightdress about walking the desolate streets of NYC at night right after a blizzard singing along with to every word feeling like no one or no thing could ever do me harm! All shizz there is so much awesome melody to be heard on this album it’s hard to pin point one song that stands out for this fact.If i had to chose one it would be Burning Down Your House i’m just saying every part of this song are in the pocket from the vocals to the drums to the pace the of this killer audio creation.I have said before soul music rules the nation and this is truly soul music in the real context being it was made because this is what is in the bands heart. I guess i answered my questions how can a band for this century make music like this because it must be in the DNA on an honest tip!
