Apocalyptic Blues

Check Out How the…
Bay Area Wrecks Shit
Live & Direct!

It’s not always about the cities when it comes to making a scene special. You will always find a killer place where the gigs are held that really holds down a scene and allows young talent to grow. I remember coming up in Los Angeles we had Godizilla’s, Cathay De Grande, and on a bigger tip we had the Olymipic Auditorium. The Bay Area has always had good luck when it comes to having awesome venues for underground shows – in the 80’s when I lived there, there was the Mab, Tool & Die, The Clubfoot and Ruthies Inn. I know for fact without these places and the awesome people who ran them, many of the bands that you dig wouldn’t have had a place to express themselves. Today the heads in the East Bay Oakland are pretty lucky that they have First Church of the Buzzard as a refuge for their creative expression. The CVLT Nation crew is looking forward to making a pilgrimage up to this space see some gigs soon! Last weekend, it fucking went down for sure: it was basically a mammoth of rad music all night long. Here is some of the line up:Negative Standards, Swamp Witch, Folivore, Planning For Burial, Mortuous, Theories and Transient. Let it be known that they all rocked the roof off of the motherfucker. I could write a glowing review of every set, but I decided not to, because I want you to see it for yourself! Kevin Hobbs, our Bay Area video correspondent, was on hand to capture all of the black magic. So after the jump, it will be time to tune in and exhale the kind bud, plus watch some ultra killer live video footage! CVLT Nation salutes the First Church of the Buzzard.
