A middle finger to all of the hypocrites that allow corrupt corporate christian lies to rule their lives, what they really need to do is bring this band’s music into their world so they can start living right! The Gleam of Wetted Lips, as a body of musical work, is everything I want to inject into my brain cells when it comes to black metal. Let me tell you why, because AKSUMITE has clothed their sound of hate and rage in the filthy fabric of punk rock, and for this I have them on repeat. Every song on this tape is crawling with groovy black melodic maggots, so therefore each tune has a groove to it that will make you sick in the right way! The vocals on this record are ultra gnarly, at times they almost have a D-beat flow to them, but they always have a sinister growl that is just awesome. Musically, AKSUMITE creates a thick wall of distortion that is painted in pain & torture, while moving at a killer pace of death. The songwriting on The Gleam of Wetted Lips is smart because they have enough unexpected breakdowns & twists that you will never get bored. Fuck the dumb shit, AKSUMITE rocks, just check out “Endlessly, Remorselessly” – this song is so hyped it might even replace my morning cup of coffee. You must recognize the radness in their tune “Blood Cult,” it starts off with mid-tempo death march before exploding into all out hostile sonic chaos. It’s when AKSUMITE flips the script on their outro that you realize these fucked up humans know what time it is. At no time during The Gleam of Wetted Lips does this band lose focus on their conviction & tortured emotion. AKSUMITE has won themselves a spot on Blackened Everything Vol. 5, nuff said!

This will be in the top 10 of ’11 for sure. The riff at 1:25 of ‘Blood Cult’ is amazing!
