I would not trade my teenage years for anything in the world; but trust me, I had mad ups & downs. Looking back on my musical adventures, those years were golden, I really loved ’84 to ’85 – by then I was starting to figure out who I was so to speak. This is when I was really digging positive punk/goth & loads of the British bands from that scene were doing their first tours of the States. One show I will never forget was Sisters of Mercy, I got in for two bucks. I remember being surrounded by fog from their smoke machine, and I was bugging out on their drum machine. They played a short set, but still felt like had witnessed something really special. The whole band moved around the stage in slow motion, & had an air of mystery about them that left me fascinated. Sisters of Mercy went on to big things in the years to come, but I will always be more into the stuff they created in the mid 80’s, maybe because it’s from my era. Nice to see the Sisters love. I envy your early attendance. I didn’t see them for the first time until the ’90s, would’ve killed to witness the original lineup. I’ll still catch them anytime they roll through, though. Hail Von!
