When you are young, this world does not always make sense, so to put things in order we start to form our own tribes. Within these worlds, only those who think or dress like us really can get where we are coming from. When I was young I joined the tribe of hardcore, & no matter where I have been I have remained a member. On the real, I know for a fact it has kept me in tune with what time it is in society and in my own mental clock. GRAZES from Sheffield, England, do things with hardcore that I can relate to. First, their singer: his delivery is snotty & in your face, which always gets high marks from me. Then, GRAZES bring that spazztic electricfied melodic groove to their songs, so how can you not be impressed by that. Hold on, what about their awesome breakdowns? The big drum beat that kicks off “Rex Anglorum” gets me in the mood for some youthful rebellion, when all we wanted was a Pepsi & you better fucking give it to us. This band does a good job at reconstructing songs of rage into roads with many twists & turns. Hardcore is not the easiest form of music to bring something new to, but this band succeeds at it by just being themselves & playing music from their hearts, which is where all rad tunes start from. OK, as you might already know, I’m a wild child from the 80’s, & GRAZES represent my decade of hardcore well. But then again, they flip the script with their own twist. On their EP Myths, out now via Holy Roar Records, this band leaves you saying damn I want to hear a whole album. Before I let you go, I must stress: GRAZES spazzmatic killer melodic outbursts will be stuck in your mind for daze!
