Rendering the old masterpieces in the style of 17th century paintings seen through the motives and technique under the influence of layered prism of darkness is more than a trick to the eye. These are the works done by Nicola Samori born in 1977 in Forli, Italy. Artist has a vast span of exhibitions and catches the eye with high academic skills and dedication to art and thorough the desire to create something new from already existing historical pictorial legacy giving the contemporary viewer a considerable amount of attention by causing interventions through smearing and disfiguring and torturing the works.
The darkness is nothing more than just a way of saying how creation might have turned out. We see distorted figures and molested sculptress, deformation and creations ways of representing itself. In other words we see what we were not supposed to see neither with our own eyes nor with the mind eye. Integration of the surface and the subject done to implicate the journey of the viewer to enter the diverse depths of the artist’s resolution becomes rather apropos.
The artist seems to skin his paintings by using the palette knife or other variable techniques of interrelation with the self driven motives to destroy the painting focusing on the distorted physics of the body.
All we are left with after meeting and relating to the works of Nicola Samori is just a desire to have more artists who understand the physical behavior of a subject and can eagerly interpret it in own view, revealing the inner most unsolved mystery of creation locked in surface under surface layered complex of the creator.
