NINA SIMONE was an artist who changed the world with her voice and views. Without screaming or heavy riffs, this sister was punk rock and doom metal in her own right. With lyrics that spoke about revolution and a singing voice that painted the pain of the downtrodden, she was an inspiration to many different kinds of humans. NINA SIMONE blazed a trail for us all, and this is what true artistry is all about. When I hear NINA’S version of “Strange Fruit,” my whole body begins to shake with tears.
