Whiskey shots, forests, scumbags, low life skateboarders, punk, black metal & hangovers were the inspiration for my homie Hana Liden. This Swedish-born New York transplant is a rad conceptual artist. She is finally starting to get the shine she deserves. Now it’s time for us to see the world through her eyes.
“Hana presents her first solo show with Maccarone Gallery entitled ”Out of My Mind, Back in 5 Minutes.” Linden is well-known for her conceptual photographic exploration – in this show she presents a series of 3-dimensional works which were incredibly labor-intensive but made to seem effortless in their construction.
With repetitious form and mutation of refuse, these discrete installations offer a meditation on urbanity. Liden takes common objects of plastic bags and T-shirts to hearken the ubiquity ever-present within New York. Branded with a process-ridden impulse of multiplicity, the result is a gallery space turned reliquary, containing the ghosts of an urban tribe now obsolete.” Check out some art for weirdos after the jump.
