PUT A SPELL ON ME…
SWAMP WITCH Review

I have smoking been on that voodoo get high as fuck blow your brains out kind of weed. For some reason, I feel like this bud has put a spell on me, it has me thinking of witches & swamps. Now it’s all making sense, it’s because lately I have been bumpin this terminally ill doom band from Oaktown named Swamp Witch. These humans make music that comes from deep deep in the underworld, where there is no love, only hate & rotting pieces of sludge leftover from the rituals that came before them. Armed with a two songs demo & a off the hook remix, which we’ll talk about later, this band will be bruising brains for many years to come I’m sure of. Swamp Witch conjure up some crazy off-kilter doom that has cycodelic legs, burnt black arms, resin infected skin with occult blood that is infested with maggots. From the very first time I played this demo, this band had my attention; maybe it’s the way they dip their melody in sewage & force you to smell it with each listen. What I do know for sure is that the vocals are ultra vicious & diseased, just the way I want to hear them. Swamp Witch’s songwriting is way more than original – it’s very honest & never gets boring. Every listen to this band will have you discovering a new layer of weirdness that will keep you coming back for more. So what really made me say damn these freaks are awesome was the Doom Chopped and Screwed Remix of their song “Novem” – this is the new stoner anthem. Basically they fucking created their own genre! Get your best weed, pack a big bowl or roll a big spliff, play this song & you will be hooked for sure. I guess you could say that I have no problem joining the Swamp Witch coven, maybe you should too! Peep more tracks & the remix after the JUMP!
