FUCK YEAH HOUSE SHOWS! PIGEONWING, TRAPPED WITHIN BURNING MACHINERY, LADYBIRD, FUNERARY and COLUMN III destroy Phoenix, Arizona!

As a participant in shows from an early age, I have always favored the house show, regardless of the fact that over the years, Arizona has at times lacked venues for the more underground taste in music, but things have actually gotten pretty awesome in the Valley of the Sun as of recent. Lots of new and interesting bands are coming through as well as sprouting up all over our state, in addition to venues and local art galleries that are willing to hold more of these kinds of shows. This is due to lots of dedicated local promoters, local record labels, bands and attendees showing up and devoting countless hours to support something they love. Don’t get me wrong, it has always been there, but it is growing and becoming stronger and more vibrant as time progresses, at least from what I can see, and that is great for our community out here.

But house shows have always been my favorite; everything feels more intimate and in your face, like a party. People are more comfortable to let loose, have fun and just let the experience consume them, without the fear of some security guard getting in their face and harshing the mood, in more ways then one if you catch my drift.

So when a bunch of Midnite Collective brethren – ie: PIGEONWING, TRAPPED WITHIN BURNING MACHINERY, LADYBIRD, FUNERARY and COLUMN III – got together, the party not only lasted all day prior to the show, but it would be literally impossible to distinguish when the party actually began and ended, other then PIGEONWING and TWBM leaving the state lines. But to be honest, I am pretty sure they continued all they way until they were home.

The following photo essay is documentation of the show, the bands and the hijinks that ensued.

Been fascinated about this since I saw this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIiKwb26Qlk . Don’t think this is really a big thing here in The Netherlands, though.
