Trick photography was a new and extremely popular invention in the early 20th century, and one man who gained notoriety as one of the best in the US was William H. Martin. He created dreamlike scenarios, inspired by the tall tales people often tell of their daily adventures. Massive rabbits, incredible hunting hauls and humongous crop yields became some of the top selling postcards of the 1910s. The fantastical images he created were amazing to behold at the time, when photographs were, even more than now, taken as realistic portrayals of actual people and events.
