“Die Choking’s forthcoming album “III” is a dastardly Americanized reinterpretation of Plato’s allegory of the cave. It is a dense work and presents a politicized metaphysical cycle: origin, liberation, corruption, falter, violent degradation, decay, and rebirth. “III” is a brutal reference to both ancient and modern interpretations of existence, morality, and politics. This album is a short, simple and a delightfully entropic vision. It presents a nihilistic emergence from ignorance that is met not by a joyous embrace of eternal knowledge but is heralded by a vision of an eternal, ever-stretching graveyard.
