CVLT Nation Captures: Desertfest 2015 Day Two

Photos by Gemma Shaw aka Gloomy Lights Photography

Text by Luke Bolton

The 3rd annual Desertfest, based in Camden amongst a myriad of venues. The London smog is replaced with a green haze as fans of doom, sludge, stoner and its many subgenres congregate and worship the uniting power of the riff.

EYEHATEGOD

Eyehategod from New Orleans finished off Saturday night in style. Delivering a truly crushing set starting with a new song ‘Agitation! Propaganda!’ and featuring ‘$30 bag’ and ‘New Orleans is the New Vietnam.’ Mike Williams IX and Co. seem to truly enjoy the response of the Electric Ballroom crowd. Having seen Eyehatgod on so many occasions, I can’t recollect them ever playing a bad set, and once again I’m not disappointed.

BONG

Bong, the UK’s finest drone, heavy, slow head banging goodness in the packed out Underworld, a truly devastating performance.

LO PAN

Lo Pan are Texan stoner rock with plenty of groove and melody, but lacking in performance.

BRANT BJORK

Brant Bjork the coolest guy in stoner rock, backed by a solid band. It is a tight set of reworked songs of Brant Bjork’s solo material. It’s all about the laid back, good time vibes.
